簡介

馬來西亞理科大學（USM）創立於1969年6月1日，為馬來西亞第二所建立的大學，僅次於馬來亞大學。大學共有三個校區，主要校區位於檳城，而醫學院位於吉蘭丹，工程學院則座落在高淵。學校為學生提供多種科系，包括自然科學、應用科學、醫療科學、製藥科學、建築科學、社會科學、人文學科及教育。

歷史

• 1959年，馬來西亞理科大學的概念首次由D·S·拉馬納森所提出，並成為創校委員會的主席。
• 1967年8月7日，時任馬來西亞首相東姑·阿布都拉曼對創校的理念表示支持。
• 1969年6月1日，大學正式成為公立大學，起初稱之為檳城大學，並租借了喬治市市郊牛汝莪馬來亞教師訓練大學作為臨時營運地點。
• 1971年，大學搬遷至明登的現址，距離喬治市約9.7公里。
